Cittadella of Alessandria

The Citadel of Alexandria is one of the largest European monuments àmbito the permanent fortification of the eighteenth century, one of the few still in existence and certainly one of the best preserved in Europe. It is the only lowland fortress built by Savoy in the eighteenth century and is the only European fortress still inserted today in its original environment: there is a screen of homes that closes the view of the ramparts, or a high-speed road to encircle the ditches.
